Since 1979 Connecticut Clean Room Corporation has been manufacturing clean room products in Bristol, CT. One of our main products is clean room paper and this month we are going to look at the people using cleanroom paper, why they use it, and the locations in which they are using it.
The main purpose for using clean room paper is to limit the amount of particles that paper will shed. Depending on the level of cleanroom you could be looking to keep an air particle level of as little as 10 microns. You can find these critical environments in certain manufacturing plants and distributors. With such small levels of particles allowed you have to be very careful about what you have in these rooms. Paper is a necessary item in many of these rooms and so people have to get paper that complies with the particle requirements. Normal paper sheds about 3 particles/m2 x 106 while our Munising LP paper sheds about 1.4 particles/m2 x 106.
Now that we know why people are using cleanroom paper, let’s talk about where it is being used. One place that comes to mind is Pharmaceutical manufacturing, where the need to be containment free is extremely important. A similar area that would require cleanroom paper is Medical Device Manufacturing. Some of the areas that are not as obvious are Electronics, Aerospace, and Optics. One of the most surprising areas to me was the Military. In fact, the Military was one of the first to establish cleanroom guidelines to combat trigger malfunctions.
Cleanroom paper is a versatile product used in many industries and it is part of almost every critical environment. Whether it is a notebook, notepad, or more standard 8.5 x 11 it is a useful item in a cleanroom. At Connecticut Clean Room Corporation we are proud to manufacture all of these cleanroom paper options, and we have the ability to make custom cuts as well!
